Who particularly shapes science in and around the metropolitan region?
The science editorial team of the Berliner Tagesspiegel has once again selected the 100 most important minds this year. These personalities stand out for their research achievements or their outstanding teaching, while others demonstrate special social commitment. One of the selected scientists is Elke Weber, congratulations!
Weber has been researching how people react to environmental problems since the 1980s. Among other things, she discovered that feelings of guilt about climate change tend to paralyse rather than mobilize people. Elke Weber is a professor at Princeton University and has been a guest researcher at the Climate Change Center Berlin Brandenburg since 2022. Together with her husband Eric Johnson, a professor at Columbia University, she leads a six-person research group at the Center for Research on Environmental Decisions (CREDiBl) in Berlin. At the interface of the behavioral and social sciences, they are investigating the challenges associated with climate change and how we can overcome them. The project is funded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin.
