Leverage points for securing democracy and climate justice in Berlin & Brandenburg
How can we identify and use effective levers to achieve sustainable change? How can we bring together the different spheres – personal, political and practical – in the socio-ecological transformation?
Various strategies and measures are needed to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis. The focus is often on practical measures such as actions, interventions, strategies and behaviours that directly contribute to a desired outcome, e.g. solar panels or reduced meat consumption. There is a danger that changes in the personal sphere are only implemented in the practical sphere, which populists exploit to fuel resentment and fears among the population. An effective starting point would be to involve individuals and groups in all three spheres.
Experts from academia and practice will present different perspectives. They include Elke Weber, Princeton University & Einstein Visiting Fellow (TU Berlin), Winston Chow, Singapore Management University & IPCC Co-Chair, and Dr Angela Jain, Bertelsmann Foundation Project ‘New Democracy’.
The event will be held in English and moderated by Prof Felix Creutzig, MCC & TU Berlin.
