Description

The EUBUCCO database provides information on more than 200 million buildings in 27 countries of the European Union and Switzerland. The characteristics of building floor area, type, height, and year of construction can be called up on the website. The data can be used for modeling energy demand scenarios and measures to reduce energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. EUBUCCO supports the climate-neutral management of buildings.

How it works

Information on buildings in various countries can be downloaded as GPKG or CSV files via www.eubucco.com. It is also possible to display building information directly in your browser under the “Map” tab and to view instructions and scientific articles on the project.

Background

EUBUCCO was developed with the help of government datasets and OpenStreetMap data. Characteristics including building floor area, type, height, and year of construction were collected in the database, analyzed, and harmonized to provide spatially resolved data on the extent and condition of the building stock. This enables energy and climate policymakers to create risk models for natural hazards or economic damage functions in connection with the climate crisis.
