TRAIN4 Science- App
Focus:
Education
Target group:
Educational institutions, school students
The TRAIN4Science app is a fun way to learn about the climate crisis and its consequences. In the app, players navigate a train as it travels into the future. Throughout the journey, they set the railroad switches and steer the train onto the right track by answering various questions. Knowledge about the climate crisis, assessments of its effects, and the identification and independent evaluation of climate protection measures are all part of the game. TRAIN4Science is particularly suitable for the classroom and for children aged 10 and over.
The TRAIN4Science app can be downloaded free of charge and ad-free from the Google Playstore (iOS version to follow shortly).
The TRAIN4Science app was developed in the research project “TRAIN 4 Science: Gamification for Analyzing and Reflecting on Controversies in Science and Society” at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and funded by the Klaus Tschira Stiftung gGmbH. In the “Gamification for Climate Action” project funded by the Climate Change Center Berlin Brandenburg, an adapted version of this app was used to develop a digital-analog learning offer in the form of a rally for school students in grades 5 to 8 at the Schul-Umwelt-Zentrum in Berlin. Location-based content can be included in the adapted app version for follow-up projects. If you are interested in (follow-up) projects, please contact Justus Schöller.
